Being a parent is extremely difficult. When you have a child, you don't really get an off day. It's even harder being a mother as more is usually expected of you. That said, there are definitely those who are better at it than others. Don't believe it? All you have to do is scroll through some of the parenting groups out there to find some questions that might make you take a second read. But don't fret, because we've already compiled the funniest and most concerning posts from moms that we could find right here.
Might Be Time For Couple's Therapy
It's pretty normal to get aggravated by a spouse every now and then. In fact, it's probably expected and healthy to have arguments as long as they don't get too serious. So, maybe this mom was just testing the waters to see if anyone else felt the same way about their husbands as she does about her's. She asked how many people "do not miss your husbands while they are at work."
She then went on to say that just seeing her husband's face completely ruined her day. To be clear, we do hope this marriage works out, but it does seem as though there might be a need for couples counseling.
Introducing A Child Right Off The Bat
While there's certainly no concrete timeline for when it's best to introduce a child to someone you're dating, most will say it's better to wait a little while before introducing your child to your boyfriend or girlfriend. Still, that might be why this mom took to a mom's group to ask others about her idea to bring her kid with her on a couple of her first dates. She said that she was open to opinions on both sides.
She also stated that these first dates were just to go get ice cream, although we imagine that didn't really affect how most people probably responded to this question.
Living That Organic Life, Washing Hands Is For Sheep
This mom posted to what appears to be a Facebook group to show off how well her kid was following instructions and not using chemicals. "It's so hard letting her go with people who do not alinge (align) with us but I'm proud of her for making her own right decisions," she writes. The child was staying with her sister-in-law, who texted the mom asking what she was telling the child about chemicals.
The sister-in-law asked because, apparently, the kid refused to eat Mcdonald's and wash her hands in the public bathroom of a restaurant. Some people will just never understand.
Schools Have To Find Funding Somehow
This mom asked others on Facebook if they, too, suspected that schools and child protective services (CPS) were colluding to collect money after having the CPS called on her and her friends. She asks, "why do teachers feel that they NEED to call CPS on EVERY little thing??" She then goes on to speculate that the school is making some side money off of each call they place to CPS.
Unfortunately, she doesn't say why the CPS was called on her so that people could make up their own minds about whether or not it was warranted, but we do hope schools and CPS work closely together.
Second Hand Smoke Can't Be That Bad, Can It?
While it's pretty much a widely acknowledged fact at this point that secondhand smoke from cigarettes is extremely bad for you, there's not as much information out there about secondhand smoke from weed. That might be why this mom took to social media to as others how old their children were when they started smoking weed in the same room as them. She ended up getting a lot of responses telling her outright that any kind of secondhand smoke is bad for children.
However, there was one person who advised her to "decide what's best for you and your babes." The commenter also called all other advice to not smoke in the same room as children "pure judgment."
When You Have To Specify It's "Not White Supremacy"
Naming a child is hard. They're usually going to be stuck with whatever name you give them for the rest of their lives, which means that it's important a lot of thought is put into a name. So, this woman was probably rethinking the name "Aryan" after posting it online and asking for a potential middle name. After receiving a bunch of comments, she edited her post to specify that it would be pronounced: "uh-Ryan."
The father's middle name is Ryan, and all of their children have names that start with "A." However, that doesn't change the fact that nobody is going to look at the spelling of "Aryan" and pronounce it "uh-Ryan" on the first try.
There Are Just Some Things That You Don't DIY
Don't get us wrong, there are plenty of things that people should try and tackle themselves before spending the money. However, medical procedures aren't one of them, especially when that procedure rhymes with circumcision. This person took to social media to ask for advice on how to talk her cousin, who is doing a home birth, out of letting the father perform a circumcision on their newborn. For context, most of the father's experience is with dogs.
According to the post, he's a dog breeder, and he regularly crops dogs' ears and docks their tails. If we had to guess how these two things were alike then we guess both things involve scissors of some kind maybe?
Skin Cancer Is For Nonvegans
This mother posted a controversial opinion on TikTok, and not everyone took notice because the clip has quite a lot of likes. She was asked what kind of sunscreen she used. We're guessing because someone was looking for a vegan option for their own child. The mother making the video responded that "vegans don't need sunscreen." We could maybe understand if she had used the word "use" instead of "need."
Then, maybe it would sound like she was just saying there weren't any vegan options out there. But as it stands, it sounds like she's saying vegans can't get sunburnt for some reason.
Who Knew Breastmilk Was So Sinful?
This mom commented on a post and gave her opinion on giving babies breastmilk. She doesn't seem to be a fan. She writes that breastmilk has to first be "filtered through every transgression and toxin your body has committed or come into contact with." She then adds that formula is "like the Christ of baby drinks." We think she's trying to say that breastmilk is sinful here for some reason.
There seems to be a constant debate among people about which is better for babies, formula or breastmilk, but we've never seen an argument against breastmilk that's quite like this one.
Finally, A Solution For ADHD That's Better Than Cocaine
It can be difficult to care for a child who has ADHD. You could consider giving them medication, but those often come with a lot of negative side effects. Alternatively, you could give them soda, but those contain a lot of sugar. This mom seems to have found the solution in a fitness drink called Celsius. Apparently, it's sugar-free and packed with caffeine, which is "better than cocaine," according to this mom.
There are some studies out there that suggest caffeine improves focus in those with ADHD, but to be clear, most sources say medication is still proven to work better.
Fat Necks Don't Need Cut Grapes, Duh
This is a conversation that took place in a comment section. Someone asked a parent if they had cut their child's grapes before feeding them because full-sized grapes are a choking hazard for small children. She shot back that she had not since he "has a fat neck, therefore a wide throat." We can kind of see the logic here, but ultimately neck size does not have any relation to throat size.
The person she was having a conversation with replied that a pediatrician had informed them that it still wasn't okay to not cut grapes before feeding them to a small child.
The Darker Side Of Social Media Groups
Someone came home to find that their mom had put a bunch of onions in every corner of the house. Why? Because the internet told her to do it. We're just kidding (kind of). Actually, it was a tip shared on the mom's WhatsApp group. Apparently, people in the 16th century thought that doing so would help keep away the bubonic plague. We're not so sure that worked out very well for people in the 16th century.
We're also extremely curious as to why this mom would need something to help keep away the bubonic plague. Or how the topic even came up in a WhatsApp group for moms.
Your Imagination Is The Limit With Crochet
Everybody needs something to keep them busy, and crocheting and knitting are both great ways of doing just that. While many might settle for crocheting simple hats or socks, this person wanted to take it a step further. So, she took to social media to ask others if they'd ever tried out crochet tampons. We can't see the comments on this one, but we imagine that they were probably mostly advising against the idea.
It seems that most sources online also advise against using crochet tampons, as there haven't been many studies done, and we imagine there's a potential for the fuzz to get lost.
To Be Fair, Phones Are Pretty Addictive
This mom took to a social media group to warn people about the dangers of giving a child screen time. She says that letting a child spend just 10 minutes on the phone was the same as allowing them to have a gram of crack. She then goes on to list all the issues phone use can cause, such as sleeping problems and behavioral problems, as well as issues with depression.
There are plenty of studies out there that say phones can cause issues like the ones she listed, although we're not aware of any that say 10 minutes of screen time is as bad as using crack.
"We Aren't The Same" If You Believe Dinosaurs Were Real
There are always going to be debates about how best to raise a child. It's just the nature of the game. However, we're sure most people can agree on the importance of education. This mom shared how she thought others were letting their children down by feeding them Kraft Mac and Cheese, teaching them that evolution is a thing, that the earth is round, "germs" are contagious (we're not sure why she put that in quotation marks), and that dinosaurs once roamed the Earth.
She then goes on to say that "We aren't the same P.S. if this triggers you, do better. Your kids deserve it." She also posts a photo of her kid's meal and book. To be fair, we guess the meal looks pretty good.
Ranting About Secret Disney Agendas
There are definitely a lot of things out there that aren't appropriate for children to watch. However, most Disney programming is targeted toward children, so one would think it would be appropriate. This mom doesn't seem to think so though, and she asked others if they were also "against anything that Disney puts out for kids." She also says that she sees symbolism in all of their shows, but she doesn't specify exactly what she's talking about.
Because she doesn't specify, we're left to guess if she's referring to some kind of secret Illuminati-esque agenda or just the same lessons on morals and other educational material that have always been woven into their movies and shows.
Getting Tatted Up At 6
We're not sure where this mom lives, but most states have age limits on how old a person can be before they're allowed to get a tattoo. However, in some places, you can get one as a teenager as long as you have a consenting adult with you. That might be why this mom asked others if they knew of any place she could take her 5-year-old son to get a tattoo for his sixth birthday.
After being asked how old he was, she said that he was five and she'd found a "tat that's sort of a mother/son kinda thing." Others then pointed out how the tattoo would be there forever and how the child couldn't decide for themselves.
Almost Scaring Your Kid To Death
This was posted by a mother who thought it'd be fun to play a little prank on their 3-year-old child. She said that while the two were in the bathroom, she said, "oh no, the monsters are coming!" She then turned out the light and shut the door for around 20 seconds. When she opened the door, she writes that her daughter had a look of "utter terror on her face."
She then reflects back at the end of her post and writes that "other people not being able to tell me what to do is the best part of having my own kid."
Everyone Knows Reading Is Bad For The Brain
Usually, parents are concerned that their child isn't doing enough reading. However, this mother asked others online for tips on how to deal with a child who reads too much, according to her. She says that her kid reads six or more hours a day. "All this reading is bad for their brain and eyes. It's gonna kill their mental health. They never want to do anything else!" she writes.
She then says that they aren't learning anything from reading before asking others for tips on how to get them to read less. We can't see the comments, but we don't think that's what she ended up getting.
Getting Back Out There
This mom shared some of her texts after she tried to get back out into the dating scene, and they're pretty good. Someone sent her a text comparing her to a hot chocolate. Not to be outdone, she sent a text back assuring him that she wasn't looking for someone that's "hot, dark, and steamy." Instead, she says, she likes her men like she likes her tea: "In a bag underwater."
For good measure, she also assured him that coffee throws off her "vaginal ph" and makes her jittery with anxiety. To be honest, this isn't the worst exchange on this list, and it's actually kind of funny.
Remember Folks, The Internet Is Forever
This mother says that her 6-year-old son, who is still breastfeeding, gave her some words of encouragement before latching on at night, and she wanted to share it with the world. Apparently, her son said, "Boobie is not actually just milk. It's a device that moves your love into me — and my love into you." Firstly, that 6 year old has a pretty expanded vocabulary for his age.
Secondly, and we're saying this with no judgment, people should be really careful about what they share online. If in the future, that kid's classmates find this post, he's never going to live it down.
If Only The Tooth Fairy Also Shaved Armpits
There are a couple of life lesson talks every parent should eventually have with their child. And one of them has to do with going through puberty. It's not an easy talk to have, but it should be done. This mom was asking others what she should do when her 9 year old suddenly started going through puberty. Specifically, she asked about hairy armpits and if she should explain them or simply shave them while the child was sleeping.
We say simply because there isn't anything "simple" about trying to shave a kid's armpits at night without waking them up. It's kind of really funny just thinking about someone trying to do that. What would you even say if they woke up?
You Got To Keep That Secret Ingredient Secret
This mom found herself in a bit of a situation after another mom at a bake sale discovered the secret ingredient in her brownies was actually breast milk. To be fair, she only used breast milk because she didn't have time to run to the store, she says. The mom added that "some of those kids could use the nutrition, let's be honest." We don't doubt her, but one of the other parents ended up finding out.
She writes that they "are blowing it way out of proportion" before asking others out there for suggestions. From the look of all the laughing emojis, we're guessing she didn't get many useful answers.
Nothing Like Some Carbon Monoxide To Cure All The Ailments
For some context, there's an old story — or old wive's tale — that placing an egg into a sock and then hanging that sock up will help a baby with teething pain. We're not sure exactly where it came from, but this mom suggested it in a group after adding that "it helps, something about the carbon monoxide." However, a commenter quickly noted that carbon monoxide is a dangerous gas that can lead to death.
They write, "If you have carbon monoxide in your home, you need to call the fire department." While we're sure this mom just wasn't thinking about it, the commenter is right here; you probably should call someone if you suspect there's carbon monoxide in your home.
Got Corona? Too Bad Momma Has Lunch Plans
We're not sure exactly what the purpose of this group is, but it looks like maybe it's for sharing stories with others or something. Anyway, one mom got on there and shared the story of how she sent her child to school the day after he was sent home for Corona. She says, "In my defense, I already had plans for lunch and an appointment scheduled to get my hair done."
Luckily, the child said that he didn't feel that sick, but we just hope he didn't end up getting any of the other children or their family members sick after going back to school.
Why Involve The Husband Though
It's pretty normal to obsess over every little detail when it comes to your child's health and development. You want to give them the best chances you can at becoming happy and healthy adults. We guess that's why this mother aired a question like this on a Facebook group. She asked if anyone else "felt the same" about the size of their toddler's private area. She then goes on to say her husband's "is not small by any means."
Aside from the fact that this sounds more like a question for a doctor, why would you let everyone in your Facebook group know about the size of your husband's thing?
Putting Your Heart, Soul, And Everything Else Into Restoring Land
This one includes a bit of a story, so bear with us here. This woman moved into a home, and she says the city sprayed her "wildland" area. We think she means backyard since she calls it a city. We digress. She goes on to say that she made a "strong protection barrier using my hair and my period blood" to restore the soil. Unfortunately, the neighbor's dog kept visiting even after she consulted with "spirit guides."
Despite everything else seemingly going well, the dog seems to be messing with her auro, because she also says she threatened to shoot it with a BB gun if the neighbors didn't get it off her lawn.
It's Almost Like People Get Degrees For Things Like This
Right off the bat, there's nothing wrong with homeschooling a child. And a lot of parents do a good job of homeschooling their kids. However, there are also others that don't do such a great job. These parents were chatting through the comments about their own experience homeschooling their children when someone noticed something off. It appears as if their children are in their teens and still don't haven't learned the basics.
For example, they talk about how their kids don't know the alphabet, months, days of the week, how to multiply, or basic geography. These are the kinds of things students learn in first to third grade.
Hopefully, They Double Checked Their Math After This One
We've heard of parents making their children smoke an entire pack of cigarettes when catching them smoking, but we've never heard of someone making their child drink 1.75 liters of vodka after catching them drinking. That might be why this parent asked online if it was an appropriate response to their 13-year-old daughter trying to buy alcohol. We're not sure what the responses were, unfortunately, but we do hope they did the calculations again before forcing their daughter to drink 1.75 liters of vodka.
That's because 1.75 liters equal about 39 shots, which is more than enough to give a large, fully grown man a very unpleasant case of alcohol poisoning.
Nothing Like A Little Pain And Suffering To Build Character
Many people choose to just put their daughters on birth control if they are having particularly bad cramps with their periods. Most medical sources out there will tell you that long-term negative side effects from birth control are very rare. However, this mother still wanted to find a more "natural" solution for her daughter's cramps, which also came with vomiting, cold sweats, headaches, and dizziness, according to the mom.
So, she asked others on a Facebook group if there were "herbs or something" she could give her daughter. She also seems to have gotten a lot of replies to her question.
Not Everything Is A Race
Pregnancy is extremely difficult for a mother, both physically and mentally. So, we can't imagine someone being as eager as this mom is to have another child only a couple of weeks after giving birth. This mom asked others how long she should wait to get pregnant again and that she didn't want "to wait any longer even though I'm still bleeding." She also asked if she had to wait till she had her period again.
If she can handle it, then great for her. However, we'd definitely want at least a couple of months, maybe years off before having to go through something like that again.
Suspecting Your Child Of Faking Problems They Were Born With
Sometimes, people are just born with long-term health issues. This mom says that her son was born premature and that he had intestinal issues when he was a newborn. Despite this, she writes that she suspects he is just faking it now. "he cries and says it hurts so bad, says he constantly feels like he's gonna throw up, etc." However, she adds, "sometimes I feel like he fakes it and all that."
She then asks if she would need a referral from a pediatrician to see a specialist. That part actually makes sense because he probably should see a specialist if the problem hasn't gone away.
Help: Need Voice To Scream At Child
Before we get into this one, we just want to say that you lose your voice, not loose your voice. At least not unless you're trying to be really poetic about shouting, which this mother might've been, to be honest. She posted online and said that she was losing her voice, and she asked for tips to get it back since she needed it in order to shout at her child.
She writes, "the more I try to scream at my 2 year old, the worst (worse) it gets. She must be screaming quite a lot in order for it to take away her voice like that.
So Traumatic, The Kid Remembers It 10 Years Later
It's not uncommon to hear of a parent threatening to throw away their toys if they don't clean their room. However, we've met very few people who've actually done so. We also haven't met anyone who emptied the entire room of a 4 year old after they were being bad. This mom posted online to say that she did just that when her 4 year old acted up. Not only that, but she sold everything on eBay.
She writes that the child even remembers it 10 years later because she occasionally asks "do I need another sale?" The daughter then stops acting up, according to the mom.
Do It For The Karma
This one is a bit hard to follow on the first read. A mom, who's 42, is complaining that her 22-year-old daughter wants to have a procedure that would prevent her from having children. Seems normal enough until the mom gets to the part where she's talking about "those souls needing to come into our family for ancestral or karmic reasons." She then blames the fact that she has two younger children on her daughter not having any children.
She says that she jokes with her older daughter about how the youngest sibling should be her's, but she also admits that it's not really a joke.
